Samuel Richards is an emerging British conductor and musical director working across both classical and musical theatre genres. He currently studies conducting with internationally renowned conductor and pedagogue Peter Stark.
Born in London, Samuel began his musical education as a chorister with the choir of the Queen's Chapel of the Savoy before going on to receive a place to study at the junior department of Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. Following a pivotal career shift toward conducting, Samuel is currently completing his music degree at the Royal Holloway, University of London, building upon his earlier studies in classical vocal performance at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
A conductor of extraordinary versatility, his work spans an impressive array of musical genres, including operatic, symphonic, choral and musical theatre repertoire. He formely held the position of Assistant Conductor of the Royal Holloway Symphony Orchestra for the 23/24 season and was recently Musical Director for Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (Assembly Hall Theatre). Samuel was previously Assistant Musical Director for the National Youth Music Theatre's world premiere production of the new musical Henrietta.
Passionate about music education and outreach, Samuel has worked with schools, youth choirs and theatre schools across London and the South East. He is currently an Assistant Leader with the London Youth Choirs and teaches singing at Vibe Arts Theatre School in Bromley.
